Purchased from Guitar Center in the spring of 2002 it was special ordered being left-handed and came straight from Japan. It was a two week wait from the order time until I got the call. Come pick it up purchase price the time I bought it was $1249 plus tax, during that time, I’ve played the guitar strictly at home. I’m not a professional musician, but I do have a lot of professional quality equipment and like to be the best I can be at this hobby I wasn’t fortunate enough to start early age where I could’ve made a career out of it , so while having to work an eight hour day week leaves me specific amount of time to practice my craft. I had a wife the majority of the time I owned it. She wasn’t real thrilled about me transferring transfer the garage into a studio studio climate control, soundproof studio I would insure to say the garage looks better than the majority of the house which was no shabby place. Either way back to the guitar professionally set up every new string for the life of the guitar. There was four cut my left hand severely on a tablesaw, almost removing my index finger and my ring finger , they were both plastic surgeries, never did regain any feelings and my ring finger, which was the one that got the most damage had to be back together most of them most of the muscle in the meat from the finger had been shredded skin was used to regenerate, worthless for fingerpicking or even even holding a pic as is my index I’ve had to learn to hold the pic with my sum and finger next to my index finger and try to keep the fingers that don’t function out of the way this has caused me major headaches, plus the fact that I spent so much time taking lessons, and I believe was on the verge of making it over the plateau that I’ve been struggling with so long, unfortunately its not like riding a bike. I’m 64 years old now I’ve come to the crushing reality that I just Im not gonna be able to ever get back to where I was so I’ve made the decision to just put it behind me and follow the Lord, which is what I should’ve been doing all along.Takamine is 22 years old. The cedar body has aged nicely and the sound that it emits shows that this guitar has not valued at all as it is in mint condition with the exception one BB sized mini dent, right where the pinstripe goes around the edge of the face of the guitar you have to look very hard and I pinpointed it in the photos so you can see what I’m talking about. Other than that it’s hard to find anything on the guitar as far as cosmetic isn’t just like it was when it was purchased, and as far as the neck, the playability, the electronics, the keys, the gears and the keys everything is just outstanding well constructed and after 22 years for it to be in good shape is a credit to the craftsmanship of the Japanese people who Take great pride in building These guitars. I live in Japan for four years, My father was in the Air Force and I can tell you I see firsthand the Japanese take every job trivial or professional very serious. Some of the most well crafted Instruments along with every other thing, they craft swords bows. If it comes from Japan, you can bet you’ve bought a quality piece of whatever..That’s it that’s my sales Pitch.
