Soviet Russian USSR WWII and Cold War medal group, researched, to Major-General Pyotr Latun:– Order of the Red Star, screwpost-base variation, with serial number in the 150-thousand range– Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class with serial number in the 160-thousand range– Order of the Red Star with serial number in the 3.6 million range Latun earned his first Order of the Red Star in 1943 as a staff officer of the 3r Guards Rifle Corps for operational planning as part of Operation Little Saturn. He won the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class for operational planning in the summer of 1944. He earned his later Red Star in 1970 for military and political training as Commander of the 97th Guards Motorized Rifle Division. Latun also received an Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class for his service in WWII. Condition of all awards is excellent, as seen in the images! Tiny chip to one arm of the Patriotic War 2nd Class. The serial numbers of the awards are authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously! If you require confirmation in advance, please send me a message, and I will gladly provide images. Over time, I have found that redacting award serial numbers in certain listings (particularly of researched awards) has acted a simple and effective filter to sort good customers from troublesome eBay hooligans. Reasonable, rational collectors who are genuinely interested in the history represented by an award will make the effort to reach out and will quickly find that everything is in order. Winner will be provided with archival research (28 pages – including Award Record Card) in electronic format, unredacted, in color, plus an archival portrait of Latun from his early career, also in electronic format.
